Camp Over
Finally, the 5-day camp is over, it was hard work and it paid off. After quite some months of planning, although there were some troublesome issues that affected the programme and plans, I feel that it was still a success. There were some things unexpected, unplanned for, and I feel that the points that we didn't plan so well or execute so well could be improved on if there is a next time. Through the process, tempers were lost, a whole new level of working relationships were formed, everyone had a part to play and had to cooperate for this to even work. I must say good job to everyone involved, you were the ones who made this camp possible.
That being said, there was also the Sec 3s that made it possible. They were the ones responsible for the campfire and I feel that they have done a great job, and also showcased what they could do and what potential leaders are in them. I hope that they have learnt much from this experience and continue to progess further in life to achieve greater things. Sounds cliche, but well.
The handover ceremony is soon, and certain people may get their posts that they want or maybe not. Suddenly, in the blink of an eye, one year is gone. Maybe it feels nostalgic, but I still remember the trainings and meetings I had last year, the many events that bonded many of our scouts /guides together, like the 50th Anniversary Campfire, the National Patrol Camp, and the Sec 1 Orientation Campfire. I am happy that I had a part to play in these events.
That being said, there are plans to up the skills standard of the Scout Group, at least up to the Scout Standard. At least it would mean reaching one of our main goals. Through the roughly one-year hectic period of training, I have suddenly realized the importance of giving back to our Scout Group. Many seniors have come back to help us out in times of need, which I would like to thank for their efforts, for which many of the events we took part in would not have been successful.
In the end, some things may not go our way, or as planned, but I feel that what matters should be the process, and what we end up learning from it. It would be perfect if we could reach our aim in every thing we do, but without set backs or failures , the people who have made things possible would not have been shaped.
Last but not least, at least I can focus on my studies now!
